TSPLOST supporters will also tell you that Dallas and Denver have a competitive advantage over Atlanta because they have light rail systems. There are also things they won’t tell you. Outrageous cost overuns and staggeringly high operations and maintenance costs led Denver to hold a vote this year on whether to double the tax their voters approved in 2004 to fund their light projects in the first place. Both cities have longer average commute times than Atlanta.
